Who We Are & Our Mission

The Red Desert is a special place that indigenous people, Wyoming residents, and visitors have treasured for hundreds of years. Citizens for the Red Desert is a loose coalition of citizens, groups, and interests that love and value this landscape.

Our ranks are comprised of hunters, hikers, birders, history buffs, conservationists, ORV users, tourists, people of faith, rock hounds, horse and bike riders, union workers, naturalists, photographers, campers, business owners, and more.

The Red Desert is a land of many uses, holding special value for a diversity of Wyoming people. We are united in our love for this landscape and in our desire to sustain what makes the Red Desert special—for future generations.
